Alexandre Dumas, a modele ?
J. B. : More than that, he is a God for me. It is, besides, because of his influence that most of my books take place in the 17th century. Because the 17th century, it is d’Artagnan.
Is that an under statement?
Dear Lord, wonderful to find a site for the Grand Dame of French fiction! I started reading the Catherine books way back in 1964 at the age of 13. My friend, Fiona, and I were besotted by Arnaud and Xantrailles and read all the UK translations slavishly. It is thanks to Ms Benzoni that I started to write passionate historical romances. And just the other week made a pilgrimage to Bruges where some of the action in Catherine was set. Last year it was Paris, though I lamented how little of that medieval city still remains. Notre Dame was a joy of nostalgia. My hat off to you, madame.
Julia Wherlock, Cambridge, England.
Frédérique : Welcome on my site dedicated to my – our – dear author Juliette Benzoni to a fan from the beginning of her carreer, dear Julia this is a pleasure to have you here and wow, you are an author too!!!!!! I agree about Paris, nothing remains or almost from the medieval period… even the “pont au change” where the Legoix lived in Paris is no longer a medieval bridge but it still exist
Hope to see you soon online here
Such a shame that after the Catherine & Marianne series, the British publishing world seemed to fall out of love with my beloved French author. She is NEVER seen the british bookshops nowadays. SO sad.
I recently read Catherine And Arnaud and it was rich in detail and was very enjoyable.
